Beidajian Fm
Type Locality and Naming
West Henan. The Beidajian Fm was named by Han Yingshan and Yan Lianquan in 1952. The type section is in Cuizhuang Village, Xia-hexi Town of Ruyang County, Henan Province. It is the upper formation of the Ruyang Gr.

Lithology and Thickness
In the type section, the Beidajian Fm consists mainly of grey-white, yellow-brown quartz sandstone, feldspar quartz-sandstone intercalated with glauconite quartz sandstone. The upper part bears poor iron ore. Dolomite is seen on the top. Wedge pattern and platy oblique bedding are developed in the upper dolomitic sandstone. It is 198 m thick in the type section; and thickness of the formation generally varies from 200 m to 400 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The base, marked by the appearance of light-colored quartz sandstone, conformably overlies the underlying Baicaoping Fm (middle formation of the Ruyang Gr).
Upper contact
The top is disconformity overlain by the Luoquan Fm or the Xinji Fm.

Fossils
The mainly microplants in the formation are Trematosphaeridium holtedahlii, T. minutum, Polyporata obsoleta.

Additional Information
Upper Luoyu Bed, Wuwanhougou bed and Daimeizhai Bed in Songshan Mountain region are the different names (synonyms) for the same strata of the Beidajian Fm. For this reason, the mentioned names are abandoned.
